Since 1935 the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) has been providing high quality care for our nations Veterans. We serve Veterans living in and visiting 23 counties in northwest Arkansas, southwest Missouri and eastern Oklahoma. Services include primary care, mental health care, specialty care, womens clinic, pharmacy, social work, surgery, and nutrition services.

Volunteer orientations are held twice a month (there are no orientations in July or December) on the first Wednesday at 9:00 am or the third Tuesday at 1:00 pm (must RSVP to attend this orientation). 

Some volunteer opportunities include:

Escort:  Escorting patients by walking or pushing wheelchairs to their appointments or destination in hospital.  Pickup and deliver various items throughout the campus.  Deliver newspapers and visit with inpatient Veterans each morning.  Other tasks as assigned.

Vitals Signs:  Attach automated monitor cuff and/or finger clip to obtain patients vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen levels) prior to Veteran being seen by their medical team.

Outpatient Surgery:  Escort patients and family members to and from Outpatient Surgery, deliver specimens to lab, clean/disinfect and make-up stretchers, other duties as assigned.

Pharmacy Window volunteer:  activates and removes patient name display on pharmacy bingo board, utilize ScriptPro when distributing medications at pharmacy window, validates name and address of patient.
